Thank you for visiting Zonta Club of Charles County (“Zonta”). Chartered in 1981, Zonta is a member of Zonta International; a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women locally and worldwide through service and advocacy.

Zonta’s more than 40 club members volunteer their time, talents and energy to local and international services projects, as well as scholarship and award programs aimed at furthering women’s education, leadership and youth development. Early this year, Zonta awarded service grants to the Catherine Foundation, Center for Children, Civista Medical Center, and Senior Services of Charles County; Zonta presented a $500 Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award to St. Mary’s Ryken H.S. Senior Allison Riggs; Zonta presented two $1,000 Zonta Scholarships to La Plata H.S. Senior Kelsey Gill and McDonough H.S. Senior Jordon Stephens and Zonta sponsored the 83rd 2009 Charles County Fair Queen Nicotine Lauren Wathen.

A Year At a Glance!

On May, 12 2009, Zonta held the 2009-2010 Installation and Induction Ceremony to install the Board of Directors and Officers and induct seven new members.

Zonta will host the 6th Annual R.A.V.E (Rape and Violence Eradication) Walk on Sat. Oct. 17, 2009 during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Funds are being raised on behalf of The Zonta Fund at the Community Foundation of Charles County (CFCC). The Zonta Fund is a component fund of the CFCC, a 501 c 3 public charity - donations to which are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Last year’s Zonta R.A.V.E. Walk benefited domestic violence programs at Angel’s Watch Regional Shelter, Center for Children, and Lifestyles of MD.

Zonta will host the 25th Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser in March, 2010 offering the ultimate in entertainment and runway fashions. Zonta will partner with local women organizations to host the 7th Annual Charles County’s Women’s Fair on Sat. Mar. 6, 2010; a community outreach initiative to provide educational workshops and a health and wellness center.

In addition, we are dedicated to providing members opportunities for fellowship, leadership training, mentoring and hands-on service projects throughout the year! Thank you.
